How to Get a TV Show on Tubi
Hey, I’m Zack Lyman, the creator of The Big Laugh, a stand-up comedy TV show that you can now watch on Tubi! In this post, I’ll break down the entire process of how to get a TV show on Tubi, from concept to final release.
How to Get a TV Show on Tubi: The Idea & Filming Process
The journey started at ImprovMania (now called Mic Drop Mania) in Arizona. The Big Laugh is a three-episode show featuring six comedians performing their best 15-minute sets—two comedians per episode. From the start, I knew I wanted to produce a high-quality stand-up special, so I teamed up with a great production company called Heavy Feathers in Arizona. Josh, the owner, was on the same page from the beginning. We met over coffee, discussed my vision, and mapped out the technical aspects of the shoot.

The Role of FilmHub in Distribution
Once filming wrapped up, the next step was figuring out how to distribute the show. That’s where FilmHub came in. FilmHub is a distribution service that pitches your project to various streaming platforms. They handle the technical requirements, ensuring that your show meets industry standards for things like frame rates, file types, and overall quality.
Before we even started filming, I made sure to get FilmHub’s technical guidelines. Josh and I used these specs to ensure that everything—from the cameras to the final edited files—would meet their requirements, saving us time in post-production.
How to Get a TV Show on Tubi: Editing & Quality Control
After filming, I took on the challenge of editing the entire show. Working with this much 4K footage was a new experience for me, and it took a while to fine-tune everything. Once I had the final edit, I submitted it to FilmHub, where it went through quality control (QC). This process involved some back-and-forth revisions to get everything just right. After a few rounds of adjustments, we finally passed QC!
How to Get a TV Show on Tubi: Getting Selected by Tubi
Once we cleared FilmHub’s quality control, they pitched The Big Laugh to different streaming services. About a month later, Tubi selected the show for distribution! After Tubi acquired the show, it took another month for it to officially launch on their platform.
How to Get a TV Show on Tubi: The Full Timeline
From the first meeting with Josh to the final release on Tubi, the entire process took about a year. But if we count everything—including finding comedians, booking the venue, and handling all the behind-the-scenes logistics—the journey took a full two years.
